What is VPS and why should I use it?

A Visual Positioning System (VPS) is a technology that allows devices, like smartphones, AR headsets, and cameras, to determine their precise position and orientation in a physical space using visual cues and markers. This is similar to how a GPS (Global Positioning System) works outdoors, but VPS is designed for both outdoor and indoor environments and areas where GPS is less effective.

The main difference between GPS and VPS is the way they determine location. GPS relies only on satellite signals and is designed primarily for outdoor use, providing global coverage, but often with limited accuracy indoors, and not accurate outdoors. VPS, in contrast, uses computer vision, cameras, and visual data to determine the precise location and orientation of a device in real-time indoors and outdoors, including below-ground areas.
