HELSINKI, Finland, SLUSH, X Reality, Earth, December 1 — Immersal Ltd.

Immersal seems to be on fire. It just closed a seed round from prominent investors, recruited world-class talent and closed a deal with Finnkino, the largest movie theatre chain in Finland. Finnkino is part of Odoen Group owned by the leading movie theater chain in America, AMC. Immersal takes the stage, media is holding their inky breath.

Immersal CEO Rami Riihijärvi starts by bragging a bit about the seed round: “It feels humbling to acquire such investors as Bruce J. Oreck, the former US Ambassador to Finland, Inka Mero, a prominent Finnish startup investor, Torsti Tenhunen, Chairman of the Finnish Business Angel Network FIBAN and Pasi Joronen, a well-known business angel. This seed round gives us runway to make our AR product even better, get in a couple of new customers, and next year raise a Series A round, which I hereby announce to be open!!”

Immersal VP of Business Development Mr. Jufo Peltomaa is boasting, as well: “Lately we have recruited top talent: 3D guru Tatu Blomberg, former CTO of legendary Finnish game company Bugbear, Programmer Panu Liukkonen, also from Bugbear, Content guru Teemu Berglund, former Creative Director of Fake, Programmer Mikko Karvonen, serial startup tech guru, and Sales weasel Santeri Pilkama, former CEO of the SaaS company Fortnox Finland. I love them all and it’s an honor to work with them by my side – just as if I was a klingon in Star Trek TNG!”

Fresh Sales weasel Mr. Santeri Pilkama also wants to say something in this press release: “This is fantastic, we have already started AR co-operation with Finnkino at the IMAX launch event and signed a LOI to enable amazing AR in four locations in early 2018, with more to follow. We are about to fill their theatres with shared, interactive, mind-blowing infotainment AR: people and product finding, navigation, promos, ads and entertainment – all in mid air! Both us and Finnkino want to create intriguing experiences and push the envelope of this advanced technology. This is a match made in movie heaven – and worth some serious partying!”
